Based in Southern Lake Macquarie, our club spans across vibrant areas such as Dora Creek, Bonnells Bay, Morisset, Cooranbong, Watagan Park, Morisset Park, and neighboring regions!
Our journey commenced in 2011 with just 100 players out at our previous home in Dora Creek with a need for a more development style club brought to life by Gregory and Claire Parker,
With a few changes of committees over the time we went down quite considerably in numbers and built our way back to where we should be!
2021 was the post covid boom with 19 teams, including 3 All Age teams comprising both Men and Women.
The momentum surged in 2022, marking a historic milestone for our club. Seven out of our nine competition teams surged into finals, with an impressive four advancing to the grand finals. Two of these teams clinched the championship title, sealing our success for the season.
In 2023, Southern Lakes United embarked on a new chapter as we relocated to the state-of-the-art Cooranbong Park facility. This move signifies the dawn of a fresh era for our club. With a record number of teams joining our ranks, this season promises yet another year of significant growth and achievement for Southern Lakes United.
Furthermore, in 2023, we expanded our roster to 35 teams, and the following year, in 2024, our club experienced further growth, reaching a total of 43 teams and approx 500 players club wide, solidifying our position as a thriving and dynamic sporting community in the region.
Adding to our achievements, in 2024, we proudly introduced our inaugural zone football side, a testament to our commitment to fostering talent and expanding opportunities for our players. Under the expert guidance of coaches Dean Mailey and Michael Melinz,
this addition represents an exciting milestone in our club’s journey.

We are a very family-orientated club that wants to look into the future of sports in our area whilst the kids and adults alike have a fun time and develop their skills.

As of December 2019, we were awarded a 4 star FFA rating, based on their NCDP guidelines which focus on club development, involvement with women and girls in the game, and adhering to the guidelines set out by FFA to streamline community football. This was upgraded to a 5 Star rating in 2020.
